About The Chef
Terry Morrow began her career in pastry art and design in 1993 after completing culinary school at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Mi. A two-year apprenticeship with Master pastry chef Joseph Decker followed. Terry worked as a pastry chef in several country clubs and Detroit area restaurants including Café Bon Homme in Plymouth, Mi. and for Chef Brian Polcyn at Five Lakes Grill in Milford, Mi.
Initially the Queen of Hearts made scrumptious pastries and baked goods for Ann Arbor area restaurants and coffeehouses. A desire for closer contact with the folks enjoying her desserts and increased demand for special occasion cakes led Terry to focus more on special order cakes for individual customers.
In 1999…..The Queen of Hearts opened right next door as a special order only bakeshop. As demand for the Queen of Hearts cakes and pastries grew, more kitchen space was needed.
In Fall of 2007, the Queen of Hearts moved to the present location at 32 East Cross in the historic Depot Town area of Ypsilanti. All of the Queen's delicious cakes and pastries are now made at the Depot Town cake studio.
The delightful décor and open kitchen make the Queen of Hearts a fun destination for an espresso and pastry or to plan dessert for a special party. Stop in and visit soon!
